The
Nadavins were established in 1974 when we acquired our first Irish
setter as a wedding present. For the first few years we
concentrated on the Irish then in 1981 we purchased our first Field
Spaniel. “Victoria” Sh Ch Donholme Eva of Nadavin JW who went
on to became our foundation bitch.
Over
the years we have been very fortunate to have bred a number of Field
Spaniels that have gone on to become Show Champions. Three of which
came from our well known D litter, Danielle, Diplomat and Dusky
Princess. In 1993 our first most famous lady came along Sh Ch Nadavin
Elegance JW, "Pippa" winning 28 CC’s under individual judges. Sadly she passed away
suddenly in 2003 still at the height of her career but is still
remembered by all. However her memory goes on in her Granddaughter Sh Ch Nadavin Julianna JW
Sh CM "Olivia" who is Top Field for 2004,
2005 & 2006, Top Gundog in the Vitalin Bitch of the Year competition
2005 and has represented the breed at the Contest of Champions on
several occasions. Olivia is now the Breed Record Holder
being the only
Field to have ever won "34 CC's" under different Judges,
carrying on Pippa's winning ways.
All
our dogs are direct ancestors of “Victoria”. We have also
produced the foundation bitches for both the Tayowen and Tumblebar
kennels.
But
above all this the Nadavins are all family pets, they enjoy sitting on
the settee watching television. Caravanning all over the country
throughout the year, getting very muddy and dirty on holiday and at
home. They have great fun exploring the countryside, climbing
the hills in Scotland and playing in the forest in Hampshire.
Our puppies have gone on into family homes and are thoroughly spoilt
by the children. Our main aim apart from type is to keep the lovely
temperament of the breed. A prime example of this being our
lovely Sh Ch Nadavin Aristocrat JW, “Jock” was eventually banned from
the child handling classes at some of the open shows when he stood
correctly for the children without being asked. It was felt that
his handlers had an unfair advantage!! Even after a severe neck injury
we had no hesitation in any child playing with him.
We
are very lucky that our dogs have gone on to be so successful in the
show ring, but to us they are our family and give many, many hours of
pleasure and laughter.
What of the future? who knows?. Our hope at the moment are pinned on the latest "Nadavin"
Nobility (Lara). The rest of the gang can be seen on the following pages.
And that as they say is the story of the "Nadavins" to date.
